Dealing with the loss of a loved one is difficult for everybody, but for children and teens, it can be especially tough. The emotions they feel can be overwhelming and confusing. So, to help, Hospice of East Alabama Medical Center has a Children's Bereavement Program, which offers a variety of services geared toward helping children and adolescents navigate the grieving process.
Approximately one in seven children will experience the loss of a close family member by the age of 10. Unresolved grief in childhood can lead to emotional problems as the child enters adulthood.
